TRUCKEE - DONNER HISTORICAL SOCIETY - The Truckee - Donner Historical Society was founded July 25, 1968 to preserve the history of the Truckee - Donner area. The Society runs the Jail Museum which was built in 1875. We participate in several events during the course of the year. LINCOLN HIGHWAY - PENNSYLVANIA - This is perhaps the most famous of all the US highways in Pennsylvania.  US 30 is a part of the Lincoln Highway from Philadelphia to the Ohio border, which was the first paved transcontinental highway in the United States.  Carl G. Fisher, the creator of the Lincoln Highway, also had a hand in starting the Indianapolis 500 and developing Miami Beach, Florida.

RELICS OF THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY -  Arguably one of the most historic and storied highway in American History, the Lincoln Highway has played a very important in Pennsylvania's road history. Along it are relics of Colonial Times, the Revolution, the Civil War, and finally Roadside Americana. From Philadelphia to Pittsburgh and places in between, there are so many pieces to this cultural and nostalgic puzzle. Currently, this feature of the SWPA Roads Project and PA Road Photos and More showcases the concrete markers that survived as trail blazers for this route.
