In 1836 the Republic of Texas army defeated the Mexican Army at San Jacinto. With the defeat Texas won its independence from Mexico. One hundred and fifty years later in 1986 Texas celebrated a Sesquicentennial of freedom with a year long state wide celebration.

Over 23,000 miles of historic travel accumulating hundreds of postmarks which commemorated the 150 year anniversary of Texas Statehood. This historic document was hand carried to all of the Route 66 towns in the Lone Star State and beyond, to the towns that are furthest north, south, east and west. The beautiful 24" x 29" museum quality artwork document features the signatures of Laura Bush, the First Lady of Texas during the Texas Sesquicentennial year; Preston Smith, oldest surviving Governor of Texas; Don Adair, artist of Republic of Texas postage stamp, and much more. The project was verified to have traveled by boat on the ocean by Captain Melton Young Jr. Each signed and numbered lithograth limited edition print is accompanied with a six page book filled with artwork details and a raised lettering signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
